--INF Maicer Izturis came through with the tie-breaking hit in the seventh inning of Game 2 -- a two-out RBI single up the middle against Josh Beckett. A career .278 hitter, Izturis hit .327 with runners in scoring position during the regular season. --RHPs Jered Weaver and John Lackey are the first Angels pitchers to go at least seven innings in consecutive postseason starts since LHP Jarrod Washburn and Lackey did it in Games 3 and 4 of the 2002 ALCS against the Twins. Weaver's two-hit performance Friday was the fewest hits ever allowed by an Angels starter who went at least seven innings in a playoff game. --OF Bobby Abreu, after walking four times in Game 1 (tying the ALDS record), had two singles in Game 2. He has reached base six times in eight plate appearances in the series and is a career .324 hitter (12 for 37) in Division Series games.
MEDICAL WATCH:
RHP Jason Bulger (sore right shoulder) received a cortisone shot Oct. 4, but he was determined to be healthy enough to be kept on the AL Division Series roster.
RHP Kelvim Escobar (right shoulder soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 6, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on July 24. He is out indefinitely.
RHP Dustin Moseley (nerve irritation in right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list April 18, and he was transferred to the 60-day disabled list June 6. He had a setback in mid-May during his rehab at extended spring training. He was cleared to start light throwing in late May but was shut down again because of pain traveling from his neck to his elbow. He is out indefinitely.
RHP Scot Shields (left knee tendinitis) went on the 15-day disabled list May 26. He had season-ending surgery June 16 and was moved to the 60-day DL.
