--OF Torii Hunter was selected as the 2009 winner of the Branch Rickey Award. The national award is given to a player who combines excellence on the field with community service off of it. Hunter is also the Angels' nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award. --The Angels are the only team in the majors not to have a four-game losing streak this season. Thirty-seven teams in history have gone through an entire season without a four-game losing streak, most recently the 2005 Cardinals. --The Angels have clinched their sixth consecutive winning season. Only three teams have longer active streaks -- the Yankees (already clinched their 17th), the Red Sox (one more victory to clinch their 12th) and the Phillies (three more victories to clinch their seventh).
--RHP Jered Weaver leads the Angels with 15 wins and 186 2/3 innings pitched (both career highs). Wednesday's win was the 50th of Weaver's career. He got there with just 24 losses, the fewest by any Angels pitcher to win at least 50 games. The previous best was LHP Jarrod Washburn, who was 50-30 when he reached the milestone.
