Blattner was the Angels' radio play-by-play from 1962 through 1968 then became one of the Royals' first broadcasters in 1969. He hit .385 with 18 extra-base hits (eight doubles, 10 home runs), 33 RBIs (a club record for August) and a league-leading .734 slugging percentage.
