--The All-Star rosters will be announced Sunday morning on TBS. The Angels have strong candidates in OF Torii Hunter, LHP Brian Fuentes and 3B Chone Figgins. But Angels manager Mike Scioscia said he wasn't going to use his influence with his former bench coach -- Rays and A.L. All-Star manager Joe Maddon. "I think those guys stand on their own merits," Scioscia said. "The selection process is not perfect. Every year there are going to be deserving players who are left out. But we're going to be well represented. I feel very comfortable with that."
--The Angels announced the signing of their second first-round draft pick, OF Mike Trout. Trout met the team before Thursday's game and took batting practice on the field. He will report to Arizona, where he will join the Angels' other first-round pick, OF Randal Grichuk, with their rookie-level Arizona League team. --RHP John Lackey has just two victories in his past four starts after Thursday's eight-inning outing against the Orioles. But he has a 2.10 ERA in those four starts, going at least seven innings in each with 31 strikeouts in 30 innings.
--With Wednesday's 9-7 win, the Rangers took two of three from the Angels in Arlington on top of a three-game sweep in May. The two teams will meet again for three games in Anaheim next week. "They own us. They're owning us right now," Angels OF Torii Hunter said. "Five out of six? The numbers say what they say. They own us."
BY THE NUMBERS: 38-16 -- Angels' record in interleague play the last three seasons.
