Joe Saunders has a Texas-sized ERA in the state. The Angels left-hander is 0-5 with an 11.68 ERA and 34 hits (including 12 home runs) allowed in 24 2/3 innings in five career starts at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington after a 9-5 loss to Texas on Tuesday.
Saunders allowed a career-high four home runs while lasting a season-low 3 2/3 innings in his latest Texas struggle.
"Maybe you guys can figure it out for me because I haven't figured it out," Saunders said. "It just seems like every time I come here to pitch, I don't have my command or they're sitting one way and I'm pitching right into their swings. It's just been tough. I'm going to have to figure it out."
Making Saunders' struggles in Texas even more inexplicable is the fact that he has dominated the same Rangers team in Anaheim -- 3-0 with a 1.44 ERA in four career starts against them in Southern California.
