"I'm just ready to get back, man. I don't care where it is," Lackey said. "I'm tired of watching."
3. . .Triples for the Angels on Thursday (by Torii Hunter, Erick Aybar, Bobby Abreu), the seventh time in club history the Angels recorded three triples in one game.
Those lounging around the house watching TV before work Thursday morning may have caught MLB Network's behind-the-scenes look at the 2002 World Series.
***SPOILER ALERT: The Angels beat the Giants in seven games.***
That's how many of the Angels spent their morning. The veterans assumed spots on the clubhouse couches, with the newbies standing at their lockers.
"Look how fit I was, son," John Lackey yelled across the room when the screen flashed images of him as a 23-year-old rookie.
Only Lackey, Scot Shields and Chone Figgins remain from that championship squad, but plenty of current Angels sat glued to the screen.
They whooped it up when 20-year-old Francisco Rodriguez struck out Giants hitter after Giants hitter with a nasty slider.
The Angels are close to signing 40-year-old reliever Rudy Seanez, but Seanez would be weeks away from contributing.
Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Seanez would likely spend time at extended spring training before joining Class AAA Salt Lake.
"He's going to need some time," Scioscia said. "I don't know what that time frame would be, but it's not like we'd see him here in a week or two." Seanez has played for nine teams during his 17-year major league career. He last pitched for the Phillies in 2008, going 5-4 with a 3.53 ERA in 42 relief appearances.
The Angels' bullpen corps entered Thursday's game with a 6.90 ERA, last in the league.
